Alien Communion 2

http://vaesark.com/blog/

Yesterday my PC crashed several times in a row, trying to fix it I have aggravated the issue. I only managed to solve the freeze on the Asus logo after boot (it was the sli bridge), but everything else has gotten worse. There are very few options that I have before I send it back for warranty, but will most certainly leave me without a PC for months (and they probably won't fix shit). I haven't repaired the old one, I don't think I have enough money for it and I have to start paying back the loan this month. If things don't start to improve I don't know what to do, I'm starting to feel hopeless.

It would be really nice if these new sets don't get pirated while I'm still paying back the loan I took to continue working on new content. It makes me question if that was the right choice :/

  1. Set looks great! On the subject of the computer, how could they send you a broken computer and then refuse to fix it? Moreover, if the custom set-up is such a huge hassle, why not get something off the shelf? If the product they sent you is broken and they cannot or will not fix it, then they have to refund you for it and you can then use that money to buy a new computer elsewhere, no?

    1. It's not that they refuse, they are obligated by law to fix it or give the money back, if I send it to get it fixed it'll probably take several weeks or even months, also.. given the type of issues I have I'm not sure if they can fix it properly. The PC may look like it "works" at plain sight but is plagued by problems that appear almost randomly. Man, I just don't know anymore, maybe I'll try a fresh windows install, that would be the last resort before giving up and sending it.

  2. Excellent set! The girl is beautiful (green eyes is very good) and the alien theme is perfect!

For your PC, I do not understand why you do not send it back because it is under warranty. Either they fix it or they give you a new one.

    1. yeah, it's on warranty, but they may take too long to fix it and send it back just for me too see that it still has the problems, they are too many and too random to point exactly at something. For example, removing the SLI bridge fixed the freeze on boot start. I was just trying random solutions when that happened... I have tried so many thing I just don't know what caused what.

  4. superb set!

if you don't wanna send back the nu computer,
you cculd give it to a trustworthy supply/repair nearby.
setup shouldn't be much more than 100€
+ maybe some parts for a cooling solution or so.

    1. Yeah, you should not sit quietly and put up with being sent a broken computer after paying a bunch of money to have one made.

    2. If all else fails I could try that, but they are obligated to fix it though. I'll try some more things on my own before giving up completely.

    3. Three weeks of inactivity followed by a computer which functions flawlessly is better than putting up with all the errors and crashes and praying you don't lose any more data.

    4. But there lies the important bit, will they manage to find the source of the problems and fix them all?

  5. Very nice set. No decrease from your usual outstanding standards, despite the technology challenges. The look on her face in 52 is hilarious!

    1. The main scenes where created on the old computer, only the renders where made on the new one. But I'm glad that you liked it.

  6. I had a problem with my computer recently, and discovered much to my delight an easy way to fix it. It turns out that Windows has a tendency to put too much power into the main chipset of your motherboard. Under power options/power plans it will let you change plan settings. Advanced, and then you want to change processor power management. If its at 100% for maximum you want that at 90% or below. I have it at 90 and haven't blue-screened since.

    1. The issue seems to be related to the video drivers. The persistent error code that I get on the blue screen after the crash is "DPC watchdog violation". So I doubt it is the CPU, but at this point... I just don't know.

    2. dpc watchdog voilationsare common enough on windows 10 to be mainly linked to sata ahci drivers maybe try updating the drivers for the sata chipset

  7. bought as soon as i saw it good luck geting your computer fixed an idea i would suggest would be to post your hardware details on a tech support forum you trust see if anyone notices a conflict which could be causing the problem like that sli bridge or something (sorry not really a hardware guy)

    1. I'm not registered on any tech support forum, and I'm guessing that they would just suggest the things that I've already tried :/

      Thanks for the tip though.

    2. Vaes,

I would recommend these forums. The guys that help on here are really good and they have a whole tutorial about diagnosing BSOD's. They are the ones that helped me here
